Resumen: The candidate would join an existing close-knit team of senior researchers, postdocs and PhD students from a variety of disciplines ranging from geography to biology and with specializations in GIS/remote sensing, forest inventory, carbon accounting, modeling, policy analysis, information science, integrated landscape management and community capacity building. 10understanding proximate and underlying drivers of deforestation and more importantly forest degradation, including the opportunity costs of deforestation and degradation (D&D); (2) assessing different policy instruments which could be used to tackle D&D, in terms of effectiveness and cost efficiency, from differing points of view (the state, the communities etc); (3) developing methodology for the MRV (monitoring, reporting and verification) that will be an essential part of national REDD+ programmes and (4) strengthening community capacities to participate in REDD+.

2) Appropriate Technologies: Stoves Postdoc Position
Institución: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Lugar: Berkeley, California Resumen: The Environmental Energy Technologies Division has an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher oversee and manage (with broad direction from a Senior Scientist) a program for improved cookstoves including experimental protocol design, supervision of Berkeley undergraduate stove technicians and testers, analysis of emissions and fuel-efficiency data, and publication of results. S/he will also substantially participate in preparation of proposals for continuity and expansion of the effort, and building and strengthening collaborations with other institutions and field-partners.
