10understanding proximate and underlying drivers of deforestation and more importantly forest degradation, including the opportunity costs of deforestation and degradation (D&D); (2) assessing different policy instruments which could be used to tackle D&D, in terms of effectiveness and cost efficiency, from differing points of view (the state, the communities etc); (3) developing methodology for the MRV (monitoring, reporting and verification) that will be an essential part of national REDD+ programmes and (4) strengthening community capacities to participate in REDD+.

2) Appropriate Technologies: Stoves Postdoc Position

Institución: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Lugar: Berkeley, California Resumen: The Environmental Energy Technologies Division has an exciting opportunity for a postdoctoral researcher oversee and manage (with broad direction from a Senior Scientist) a program for improved cookstoves including experimental protocol design, supervision of Berkeley undergraduate stove technicians and testers, analysis of emissions and fuel-efficiency data, and publication of results. S/he will also substantially participate in preparation of proposals for continuity and expansion of the effort, and building and strengthening collaborations with other institutions and field-partners.
